Novell N Salvage... I LOVE YOU.

Working on a group project report that has to be in on friday all day today.

Got to about 7000 words. No backups made, when one of my group managed to delete the only copy of the file.

Its 6pm so no university tech support around, were frantically searching the computer to see if word forgot to delete the backup file, or if its stored in a temp directory. When we start searching the uni website for help... get links to crapness (call tech support.. opening hours between 9 and 5) as were about to give up and basically die because weve worked so hard on it, I go to close the browser window but I slip and hit the scroll wheel.

It leaves me perfectly positioned over "using nsalvage to restore deleted files" which for some reason isnt in the section about "Ive deleted my file what can I do".

2 minutes of "please work.. please work"

im now bruised from the vigorous jumping screaming yelling swearing and beating that we ended up doing in the computer room.

N SALVAGE... WE LOVE YOU!

nice one mate - I remember what it was like at uni rushing to finish a project by the deadline - used to be a big scrap for the printers every friday just before 4pm at my uni.

Which reminds me, dont leave it till the last day to print of the final year project.  

Im glad Ive still got those 290 odd print credits left.

it doesent have to be in till friday but you were working on it already ?  did you get your days mixed up ? you do know its only wednsday right ?

best attitude to have IMO

start it on the thursday - work all night - hand it in just on time - immense feeling of satisfaction  - then you can go out and have fun friday night just like you did on monday, tuesday and wednesday night.

lol.. weve worked on it all the way through just 3 of our group are twats, and its us 2 who do all the work.

Complain to the tutors and tell them you wont work with the three as they are lazy gits who wont do any work.

TBH Youd probably have learnt at least as valuable a lesson by not being able to get it back
