Title: ebay critters!!!!
Post by: mrt on October 24, 2007, 09:16:00 AM
So I decide to put my old camera on ebay with a £50 reserve and a buy it now.  I come into work this morning to check if anyone is interested and it had been bought using the buy it now.   Payment had not been received, I go an check and the idiot is no longer a registered user.  They had been an ebay member for 3 days and had an account that is private so you cannot see previous feedback history.  Basically, now have had to readvertise the item.   Talk about a pain in the arse!!  The users ID was their full name as well as 1993 on the end.

Anyone else had this before?  I am presuming there is absolutely nothing you can do about it other than report them as a non buyer?

Well it all looks better now.  Someone else has bought it as a buy it now for £130 who does have positive feedback of 130.  Not received payment yet though ... so fingers crossed!  :-)

Some peeps can be total morons on ebay, you just have to grin and bear it to some extent.

ebay should re-list for free without problems in that situation.

If I remember it right, they have up to seven days from point of sale to actually make payment, before you can go down the not-paid route with ebay. So plenty of time :)

Well the second buyer has changed their status to private since the purchase?  I do have their full name and address as its listed in the order details.  Do you think I have another time-waster here?  Seems odd that I could see their details initially.  I then sent them a message asking how they were going to pay for the item and how they would like it posted.  I dont get a reply, but then notice an hour or so later that they have changed their status?  Seems odd given they have feedback and have been a member since 2005.  Although they did have one negative?

Thoughts or am I being stupid?

Some are a bit slow, I would give it a few days at least.

Well after all that I got a message alert from ebay saying they cancelled the sale as the buyers account had been hacked.  So start the process all over again ... what a PITA!

Right, so I have had another person buy the camera as a buy it now.  They contacted me yesterday to ask a question (unlike the previous two who just bought immediately).  Today they buy the camera, but have not paid immediately what I requested.  Have I got yet another person trying to scam this?  I cannot understand what the purpose of this is?  Dont you think this is strange that three people have bought my camera and yet have not paid for it?  I am really confused now?  Suggestions?  Do I leave neg feedback for this user given I said I wanted payment immediately?  I lose out everytime as all those watching my item are lost when I relist?  What would you do??

Well just as I posted the last message, I thought Id double check paypal and lo and behold the money has gone in.  Let this run away with me thinking I have been messed around ... one slap to back of hand for mrt.

Yay, I think I have finally sold the camera!  Can someone let me know that once the money is sitting in my paypal account it cannot be retracted or anything silly like that?  Am a bit new to paypal/ebay.

Thanks for letting me rant off guys!   :D

It can still be retracted, if they fail to recieve so send recorded or special delivery.

You will still end up with a minus figure in your paypal account though if you do that.

Its a lot easier for you to tell Paypal to FO than it is for them to tell your bank to FO :)

who cares if paypal puts you in a virtual negative figure.
