I've had my dash cam for nearly 3months and not a single interesting thing has happened in front of it, a good thing I guess.

Last night on the way home from the cinema we passed a young couple with a girl lying unconscious in the snow. We thought she was injured so turned around to help.

Turned out she was just pissed so it was pretty funny. Carried her to car and drove her and her fella home. Good deed done but I'm going to have to share the video with everyone as it made me laugh when I watched it back.

Definitely a good deed done, I'm surprised no one else had already stopped as it looks like a pretty busy road section to me. The poor girl could have got hypothermia or worse.

Pretty bad, I'd have been worried about them yacking in the back :-)

Interested to know why you got a dash cam, and which one did you get?

I had someone pull out on me in october and it was a PITA trying to get the insurance company to beleive it wasn't my fault at all so this seems the easiest answer.

knighty

what size card do you have in it, and how long does it last ?

I've been thinking about getting one for a while, but most of the ones I've seen are a bit crappy :-o

DEViANCE

8gb card and each 5min recording is about 150mb at top quality.

That's not three bad for nightime footage - and for £23!  Might be tempted to get one.

Any daytime examples?

Check out techmoan reviews on YouTube for comparisons between the dash cams. :)

I'm just waiting for them to get these cameras to be battery powered. Lots of potential for cheap wildlife monitoring if you can get a small <£50 camera that can record at night without needing an external power supply :D

that one I linked is batterypowered I have not tested battery life though as I power it from the cig lighter.

It uses the old nokia phone batteries and can be upgraded with high mAh ones apparently.

like this, they used to be 6.99 not sure why they are now 96.99

A USB "emergency battery charger" would do it.
