As much as I hope the olympics will be a great sucess and show the UK off to the rest of the world, you just can't help but feel like it is going to be a monumental, billion £ f**k up.
Not even the offical start yet and this happened today:

I think the key is the UK Media moreover the amount of cockups. No matter how many it will seem more then other events because the Media are free to say what they want and way to much power in the UK so EVERY LITTLE THING will be plastered all over the papers etc.
Someone bum crack shows to much in the swimming or a girl looses her top on a Dive which happens often but not made a big deal of will be made a big deal of.
China Event had lots of issues that we were never shown or told, that is a 100% positive. It will be the fact that if you made a mistake you were locked up or it was buried under the carpet.
Tourists who looked dodgy were man handled by Police there, There is a good amount of people and tourists who vanished going tot he Olympics there to see it and the China powerhouse even produced legal fake birth certificates to get it's 14 year old's through etc.
You just have to dig deep to find those, it will be right there for everyone to see for the London Olympics.
The security Blunder was a big one, but you can not really blame the Team managing the Olympics that much nor the government for that. You research, pick a company you feel will do the job, they tell you its all going well and last minute "Ahh sorry, nah, we not doing that well".
Could have looked into it more - True BUT then again they supposed to be the experts and do the job you pay them - this happens.
Getting in the army troops as they did in the time they did was very good though. Got a mate who is doing that actually there for that.
not the 1st time theyve f**ked up, a year or 2 ago scotland didnt have the anthem for their opposition, so they didnt play it before a match
Every country that has ever had an Olympic games has had gaffes from the wrong music to flags being hung upside down and the wrong medals being awarded...

But what makes you think that this wasn't intentional?

nah, tis the right flag - the flag they wanted to see shouldn't really exist, hopefully one day it won't.
To tweet or not to tweet, that is the question. Oops probably better to not have tweeted at all. At least not something so racist.
"With so many Africans in Greece... the West Nile mosquitoes will at least eat homemade food!!!" Greek triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou.

Greek Olympic committee put in the big boot of ass kicking and she goes home...
The opening was really well done to be fair, I think alot might have got lost in translation for the world audiance but it was good.

Announcements are always done in French, why - You should know that. Google if you dont :dunno: shame on you :P
From the songs that they picked to other things I actually think they picked them with the international stage in mind. Out of the singers and bands they chose ones that are internationaly known, they could have had delboy and rodney drive around and all sorts of things but they were very selective of things British, quite a few I would not consider my Fav's but i realise that people around the world know who and what for the most part.
Having Mr Bean though was a sheer stroke of genius, twitter is all about Rowan and I liked the Bond and queen bit.
Is the Queen unwell or just shattered from a lot going on this year with all the events she has been too? She looked totally disinterested, no smile or anything at all. I think she was the biggest let down for me.
We had an excellent drinking game going in the pub tonight... when the countries started coming out...
1) If we didn't know the country... drink!
2) if their group was less than 10 people... drink!
3) *new rule* if the flag girl was at least a 7/10... drink!
4) *new rule* If we had ANY random fact from the country, we all drank!
Urgh there was more rules but can't think of any.
I saw some in the beginning I liked the NHS show as a pointer to US about healthcare :)

not really racist is it... no-one would care if it was against the English/French/Germans/Americans/any other mostly 'white' country...

Not incredibly racist but it was enough for her to be removed from the team. The committees happen to be very touchy over anything that can be labelled as racist.
It also depends on who reads it and who it is from.
And another tweet, although not quite as embarrassing as appearing at a stag meeting where peeps wore nazi uniforms and did heil salutes.
QuoteA Tory MP has made a grovelling climbdown after tweeting that the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was "leftie multicultural crap".

Didn't stop her collecting on all the bets from the Tory toffs though! ;D
Not a great start to the Olympics either. We ain't won any medals on the first day.
I can't believe how the officials managed to screw up and place the South Korean flag up. It's not even similar!!
And another oops.

Furious Indian officials are demanding answers from organisers about the apparent lack of security after a woman gatecrashed India's athletes' parade at the Olympic opening ceremony.
A woman in red and blue walked close to flag-bearing wrestler Sushil Kumar on Friday, in complete contrast to female members of the contingent who were wearing yellow saris and blue blazers.

Not as bad as losing the keys to Wembley!!
What a massive cock-up that is!

Not really a security issue because she had the pass, she was one of the performers and got "over excited" and she was the one being stupid. When you are on eof the performers etc there you have a massive responsibility to not be a dick.
I think with the amount of people there they all did very good jobs, at any time they could have gone "I LOVE YOU MUM" or something but didnt.
But, UK being UK there is always one! lol.
Eight charged with 'throwing' Olympic badminton matches
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/eight-charged-throwing-olympic-badminton-matches-034357061.html
Although I can see why they would want to it was done very blatantly and against the Olympic rules.
