Anyone got any thoughts on what's bestest at the minute?

I'm thinking s4 mini. I cba with the iphone any more so that's out of the running but I'm not sure about the s4 full.. has anyone got a phone that big? I'm wondering what they're like to live with and I cant go to a shop to look at them. I like the idea of a more grunty phone but they look BIG in pictures.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Nokia Lumia 620 was a very good phone. Not too good if you like lots of apps but an excellent phone though.

I only got rid of mine because I got a new job that came with a company phone.

I've got the Galaxy Ace 2, which is kind of the little brother of the S3. It's okay. I was really impressed at first but as time goes on the bugs are really starting to show up, I'm not sure if it's down to the phone or Android itself, but it resets itself fairly frequently and seems to drop calls all the time at random (that could be down to O2 though). It's running Gingerbread Face or whatever it is before Ice Cream Sandwich.

I do like my N9, megoo aps are fine, only thing is banking apps and payaps that are made for android and iphone only.

new iphone may get announced next month

I am currently working through the same problem, my current Wildfire S is showing it's age.

I'm probably going to go for the Nexus 4, but I'm worried about the practicallity of day to day life with a phone that big. I really want something the size and performance of an iPhone 4S or maybe 5 but running Android.

As far as I can tell, that's not available at any price from any vendor. Where they exist, mini versions of flagship phones also seem to be crippled in the performance department.

Sizewise the Nexus 4 is surprisingly manageable / portable. It will fit in your trouser pocket quite easily and the extra screen real estate is pretty handy. I've had a Galaxy Nexus for 18 months and cannot fault it. Nexus 4 is meant to be about as good.

Am up for upgrade and holding out for LG G2 / see what the new Google Nexus handset is...

had a nexus 4 for a while. Big advantage over other androids... OS updates as soon as google makes them available. Performance wise its awesome and its size is perfect for the pocket.

its better. lots.
more responsive. better camera. better shape, slimmer, no bulbous lower part.

but it has a flaw. a  ridiculous flaw. this glass back they put on it. this phone will slide off a flat surface. the screen and back seem pretty resilient, but you will drop, bounce or slide it off stuff, purely because its so smooth. no grip.

it has another flaw, but its something that can be coped with. the vibrate is quite weak. i rely on mine because i dont like mobiles being on loud all the time. i miss calls and texts cos of the weak vibrate.

jumping in on the thread... HTC Wildfire S here... and it's getting a bit old... looking for an upgrade but I can't find anything decent/modern which is about the same size

htc one mini is about all I've found so far... found one other phone... but it's not out yet

99% of the time I only call and text, so not too worried about features, but figure I might as well aim for something quad core because I tend to keep phones for a long time so it'll be a bit more future proof :-)

I just ordered a 16GB one for £199. You can get the 8GB one for £159.
