Great Video.
It is just odd. Do they really think people walk away and believe them?
Who on earth would be allowed to go to that theme park?
SO many questions about that place, It is just out of this world in a lot of ways, the poor people that live there. You must be scared to even think negatively about how you live and the rest brainwashed from birth.

It's almost beyond belief isn't it, the woman putting a box of juice back on the machine to go round again is simply bizarre. The sad thing is the ones higher up the chain must have it so easy they either do not wish to or aren't willing to risk affecting the status quo. Those in power will continue to live luxuriously and those that are poor will suffer in fear for a long time yet, unless this planned rocket launch kicks things off...

Tbh I'm more concerned with Argentina and the Falklands atm...

Dave

LOL@the juice going round and round...

on a more serious note:

http://edition.cnn.com/2011/12/15/world/asia/north-korean-labor-camps-in-siberia/index.html

in order to earn some much needed currency they seem to have shipped off some of their people to work in labour camps in Siberia...

lovely regime...

(also rather odd that vice magazine decided to cover it - maybe hipsters aren't so bad after all)

I don't think there's anything to actually be concerned about there. Argentina have been rattling the sabre since they had a pop at the islands in 1982, and while the defence cuts have been harsh for Britain recently the past 30 years have seen their forces in complete decline.

They can do jack all. I am not worried. The guv sending in some new stuff like their new flagship warship for example to the area is telling them "Just try something and your asking for it". We have more troops and options there now then last time. We kicked their ass when we were caught with our pants down a bit.
They got no chance and all they can do now is rant and rave.

How things are run there, how they think they are looked at from the rest of the world and how they run their lives is just out of movies in some ways. Kim..blablabla.. Being basically a god and the things either they are made to say about him or actually brainwashed to believe about him is just nuts.
Really is something you can not get your head around properly. With things having to be perfect all the time otherwise you disapear... That massive themepark right opposite a shanty town for example. I can not even begin to work out who will go there, who they will let in and who could even afford it?
I seen pictures of huge buildings and things built there and they are just empty, all there for show.

Its a nuts place. Can not believe it is real!
If the time comes for the people to have real freedom and that place to have a proper voted rulling party etc and they have the same freedoms as we do, It will be like every day party for those people. I really hope they see that one day.

North Korea may have a lot of troops but I doubt if their training is up to standard. Their economy isn't capable of sustaining a drawn out conflict so it would be a one shot effort. They probably don't fancy attacking across the border either with all those land mines there. Their only chance would be if China decided to back them, which is highly improbable at best. If it did end in actual conflict the Chinese would probably favour just standing aside and watching. They might back North Korea in political arguments but I don't think they are ready to go to war to back them up. If the North Koreans did have nukes and used them then I'm pretty sure that the Chinese would condemn it and just turn their backs on them.

Unless the people in command are feeling particularly suicidal I doubt if they will be using nukes any time soon either. Then again, I doubt if the Americans or British would like to go to war with them due to the present economic situation. They still have Afghanistan to finish and are barely finished in Iraq.

As to Argentina, they got a nudge from Thatcher, whether real or imagined, and then moved in. The few soldiers we had there were insufficient to hold it even under the best circumstances. The retaking relied as much on their incompetence and our good luck as anything else. Our troops had far better training and the Argentine command were completely out of touch with reality. Their troops were badly trained conscripts, although they did have better equipment than ours did.

I'm 99.9% sure that the stuff the Argentine government are going through is entirely for home consumption. I don't think they are doing that well and it is fairly normal to have a dig at the Falkland Islands every so often to attempt to increase popularity.

The thing that gets me with the Falklands isn't so much the actual conflict (if it happens) but the fact it could happen. For some reason Afghanistan and Iraq are distant things that I've never been concerned about. But the Falklands seems more like an assault on Britain etc. To be honest I just find it all depressing that humanity is still warring with each other :(

As to the Theme park in Korea...how about a state lottery where the winners are told they WILL go to the theme park...they WILL have fun...

The petty arguments about sovereignty and who was there first annoy me with regards to the Falklands. The only issue here is a humanitarian one, i.e the fact that there are people in the islands who want to remain British. It's as simple as that.

I hear that a lot, but if they fickle few who vote on the island voted to be Argentinian, would we just hand it over? I dont think the people's opinion is actually what matters, it just happens to be on our side at the moment.

The people's opinion is the only thing that should matter, and if they wanted to become Argentinian then yes, we should begin the process of making that happen. Of course it won't work like that in reality but that's how it should be.

The problem is not quite that simple, our 'ownership' of the Falklands gives us a massive say in what happens in Antarctica, then there is the possibility of oil reserves in and around the islands and the fishing rights, farming on the islands, wind farm options, Etc. Etc.

I just wonder as to how people estimate distances on a global scale. Seems some directions across the globe appear bigger than others. Afghanistan and Iraq are a lot closer than either Korea or the Falklands. Then again...

Distance between London UK and Seoul, South Korea is  8852 Kilometers

Distance between London UK and Falkland Islands is 12734 Kilometers
