Bit early isnt it?
Aye, I kinda feel that a peace prize should be awarded to people who no longer have the potential to either turn evil or cock things up so royally as to start another war etc ><
If at the end of his term things are more peaceful etc, sure, but until then...

early as in the fact that the closing date was only 2 weeks after his innaguration or however f**k you spell it.
Yeah I do know what Nobel was thinkng when he said that the Norwegians should pick the peace price winners I seldom agree with their US buttlicking.
Getting a Nobel Peace Prize for not being George Bush is a little lame, on the flip side hes not George Bush, and its probably relief at that fact!
He got $900k as well didnt he?
Disgrace if you ask me.

i think its a disgrace also :drama:
900K?
I bet theres a lot of people out in war zones helping people escape persecution and war around the world that deserve it more!
Im not saying he hasnt done anything, but I suppose he has. Its just that theres people in the world thatd more so deserve the prize.
the sad thing for me is that theres a decent chance he will have earned a peace prize by the end of his presidency, but now no matter how much good he does his prize will always be remembered as one which wasnt really deserved at the time it was won.
Of course if he screws things up royally it will be even worse!

Maddow busting chops with facts.
Guys, you should check facts before posting.
It was announced pretty much instantly that his prize money is going to charity.
I doubt well see you retracting your comments.
Its nice he is doing that and I like the guy, but he still didn't deserve the prize, at least not yet anyway.

Couldnt agree more with that report.
Lets bear in mind here, this man is pretty much the leader of the free world. Even as a political token awarding him the prize for his motivations, movements and plans thus far towards democratically bringing themselves out of isolation and more nations towards peace can only be a good move. Or should it go to someone that the majority have never heard of and that it is likely no one will remember after the ceremony? Id rather see the award in the hands of someone who
is in a position to change things on a global scale.

He didnt deserve it I agree. But I was referring to the comments about the money.
He was given it so that hed continue to follow-through and increase troops in Afghanistan. Not that itll make any difference...

Well yes - it may well achieve some good, and Obama may well do a much better job than Bush at achieving some stability in the world however that isnt necessarily how awards like this should work.
Tis like Spielberg announcing he is going to make his best movie ever and then getting awarded an Oscar for it before hes even finished filming it. Yeah he probably will make an awesome movie, yeah he might well win an Oscar for it, but lets wait until hes finished and then decide.....
As that video skidzilla posted showed though, historically thats not how the Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded previously either.
If someone works all their life towards peace between their nation and another, then someone steps in at the last minute and gets the glory for it through a new motion or something, does that then give them a better stake on the award?
