Title: PayPal question
Post by: Smugs on June 02, 2006, 16:08:57 PM
Just got a call from an American Paypal lady supposedly, asking me to verify a payment I made with my account which I did make but Ive never had anyone from paypal ring me after I had sent a payment before, just wanted to ask do they do this from time to time or does it sound dodgy?

She only asked me to verify the amount paid and didnt ask for any personal information.

[edit]
The only thing i can think of is that for some reason they thought my account was being used by someone other than me and phoned to confirm if i had made a payment and the amount?

If all they asked for was a payment amount and not your name, address, DOB, shoe size, pets name, author of your favourite book and the CSV from your credit card I wouldnt worry about it.

Yeah it probably is genuine. Sometimes credit card companies will ring you to confirm either very large amount or fairly large amounts made in an unusual area or store or whatever. Also if you spend a lot in a couple of days you could get a call - its just to make sure you card (in this case account details) havent been stolen.

Well it wasnt a large amount but she did only ask if I had made a payment today and the amount and that was it, so your probaably all right nothing to worry about but Ive sent an e-mail to paypal just to make sure.
