Not a bug but an obscure setting.

To return to the thread and not just the frontpage after you have posted, go into Look and Layout in your Profile settings and tick Return to topics after posting by default.

It's very obscure, I've had to dig into the admin theme settings to find this, I've set it globally for everyone now so it will be as it was before, so it is written

Another bug perhaps

If i view all the new threads then refresh the pages or logout and come back the threads are still showing as new for me even though i have either viewed them or was the last person to post in them.

Feature Request

I think a number of threads, mainly picture/video/joke, would benefit from a "Like" or "Thankyou" button.

I don't know if this is possible on this engine but I use it elsewhere and it's great. It stops a thread from becoming cluttered with "Great" and "Thanks" posts and helps to keep the actual topic flowing :)

I think there's a kudos system that can enabled, its not quite the same thing mind.

I'd quite like a rep/kudos system.
Title: Re: Migration Bugs
Post by: neXus on January 11, 2011, 18:25:39 PM
The Kudos system is a bit gay but there some other things that are better.

Quick replies in threads and Karma is active now, I've set Karma to a total figure so it will basically show like a 'Thanked x times' as long as you don't receive a lot of smites.

When using a url for an Avatar it scales the Avatar to 150x150px, regardless of the original dimensions. Uploading to the forum directly doesn't do this, but reduces the images quality.
Title: Re: Re: Migration Bugs
Post by: Clock'd 0Ne on January 12, 2011, 21:04:05 PM
There are various settings for that, I'll have to change them it seems, although I'm not sure why it's upscaling them. It was set to HTML resize offsite hosted avatars, but there is an option to have the forum host them, I could turn that on and we'll see how it goes.

I've changed that if you fancy testing it.

I'm getting the following randomly (same error I was getting when trying to go back to Index at work)

Warning: require(/home/content/17/7268417/html/cache/data_2d093d25960dc8e311df43e98fb84ed7-SMF-modSettings.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/17/7268417/html/Sources/Load.php on line 2689

2 different machines, 2 different locations and 2 different browsers (IE8 & Chrome) - Will keep an eye on it to see if its random... earlier it was when trying to go to index nowhere else, that was when marking for sale & wanted as read.

Bug in the RC4 of SMF 2.0 You even get it on a clean install now and again. Will get fixed in next build I guess.

If you're having issues with your avatar coming up the wrong size, etc then just reupdate your profile and it will fix itself. If an av is too large I've set the server download and resize it for you.

When you click Quote it puts the Quoted text in quick reply, generally it should put the Quoted text in a full reply.

Hmmmm Bacon I just quoted you in the other thread (cheating in CoD6) and it did the full reply. Quoting someone in this thread puts it in Quick Reply... Did Nige only apply it to certain subforums :P

Spotted this this morning in the food thread - thought it was by design as it was quite useful!

Right guys, I've got to the bottom of this and changed the user settings for now, but I'll let you decide what is your preference.

The way it work is, Quick reply is now on, but not on by default. This means when you click quote you will go to a full reply page.

If you expand the Quick reply option, it should enable quoting going directly into the quick reply.

If more people would rather have Quick reply on permanently and quotes going straight into it, then I'll change all user settings to have it on by default.

Binary Shadow we've spotted that already, Sam has borked it.

Yup that works perfectly. Full reply at first, quick reply once you expand. Awesome :)

There is a facebook like button that is available.

Anyone want that? Would you use it?
It would mean cool things would show up on your facebook and to your friends, and they view and maybe join?

Thoughts?

Thing is , there is a lot that can be done now. But I do not think they should be just because you can. Very hard thing to resist now putting things on just for the sake of it.

Addict are all relevant to the bugs and operations of the forum. I'm making the theme up so while iv just about got the basics down and about to give it the love. Additions to the forum will effect those layouts.

Couple'o'bugs

When not logged in, there's a search box top right.  When you log in, it vanishes.

I get the option at teh bottom of the main pages to lock/remove/mark threads as read.
The first two options don't do anything, but I shouldn't be able to see them.

Your profile window is closed when you login. Click the arrow in the top right and you will see all that.

In the new skin I have got rid of the avatar and condescend everything into as the old was.
