1st they eat all my bloody plants - they especially like lupins. Next they go round eating each other. Seriously. They eat all the plants and they're still hungry? Yep. I've just been out and seen two fat bastards eating one little one. On top of that I'm sure they're all at it. I pick them up on the trowel and chuck em over the wall and I am sure they have weirdo vortex of goo vaginas on their sides and willies like tagliatelle :gag:
Anyway, I was all for peaceful, chemical-free ways of controlling the bastards. But a line has been crossed. Don't tell the soppy missus but today pellets have been deployed strategically across slug strong holds.
Why don't other things eat slugs?
I blame cats. Cats eat the things that eat the slugs but don't eat the slugs themselves so the only thing eating slugs is other slugs and there aren't that many slugs eating slugs because they only eat other slugs if there is nothing else to eat and if they have a buddy they can plate share with.
The way I see it there are three options:
1) Pellets
2) Salt the earth so nothing shall live/grow
3) Take off, nuke from orbit (the only way to be sure)
I would start at the top and work down. HTH!
in the summer, my parents go out and kill 200+ every night.... doesn't seam to make much difference
they've tried everything to kill them... and nothing seams to make any difference :-(
Biological control...get some nematodes...and let the slugs get eaten from the inside out...
Beer trap?
