Want to buy a new sofa in the next month or two, where should I be looking?

Heres the list of sofa places Ive found so far..

http://www.dfsonline.co.uk/
http://www.habitat.co.uk/
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/
http://www.sharaks.com/
http://www.landofleather.co.uk/
http://www.ixiainteriors.co.uk/

Will of course wait till the sales before I buy, just want to make sure Ive found the one I want. Will

Have to admit I really do like the look of this although its definitely more than I want to spend / possibly slightly too big... maybe..

how much is the sharaks one? looks nice, trouble is you would need a lot of space.

i would be tempted to look for vintage as that can often be an awesome bargain.

The corner one is 1200 (yikes!) while the 3 seater version is 750.

I need to go check it out to see how good the leather is, but hopefully itll come down to under 1k in the jan sales.

I didnt really want to go above 750, but its such a versatile piece o kit ;)

They certainly seem cheaper than the likes of John Lewis and the very overpriced habitat stuff which is similar.

They can even do custom sizes for about the same cost.

Well if I do go custom itll just be a request for a slightly smaller version of that Monaco chaise I linked to.

Although Im thinking it might fit, will need to move the room around.... need to do a floor plan.

do it in autocad, then you can backtrack measurements for whatever. also measure your doors imo.

We just got some smart sofas, will take some snaps, leather ones as the base but with real cushions takes best of both worlds, really nice. Got them from a place next to DFS at Fosse Park (Leicester)

Good furniture isnt cheap unfortunately. You buy cheap you get crap.

It be worth looking for some second hand bargains if youre not desperate for new. In fact I believe Sam has some cream leather sofas for sale

none of the above TBH.

DFS stuff has a shelf life of about 5yrs.. hence they give 4years free credit.

Get yourself a nice expensive chesterfield. Timeless Classic & will last for years.

Parents bought a DFS & it went back for a refund within a week. So shobby workmanship. Pointed out about 4 or 5 imperfections on each piece & they tried to fob them off. Illfitting Materials/coverings, sections dont align up properly, Seems not running Straight & on the edge, etc. - might be nit picking, but they are the areas that will stress & break first.

They ended up going back where they got their old suite from over 10 years ago.... I now have that 10yr old suite & it still looks great

Ours is about 20 years old :D

DFS is crap and, as sam says, IKEA is too. TBH if its advertised on TV as part of a sale then its not worth the money.

Exactly what I mean. If you look after it with, the leather wont crack that much, except with the natural aging - Think you need to use leather dubing once a year.
