dunno i needed it the weekend so couldnt send but it going tomorrow. Hopefully they wont take too long.
might even just buy the SLR i keep promising myself in the mean time but yet to make up my mind on which one.
Things might change when Panasonic bring out theirs later in the year though so Im going to wait until at least thenbefore deciding on if I fancy an upgrade. For most things there isnt much advantage though.
thing is the amount of glass youd have to get to match that lovely super-zoom on your Lumix is going to be pricey. I love my DSLR and wouldnt have bought a Lumix over it dispite the price difference, but if I already had a lumix the upgrade would be harder to justify.
Even if you get one of those new Tamron 18-300s I seriously doubt it would challenge the Lumix optics, youd have to go for multiple lenses. SLR superzooms tend to be jack of all trades master of none and while that must be true to an extent with the Lumixs lens as well, if anyone can make one that works its Leica.
The Leica lens is a really nice bit of kit but the Panasonic chip doesnt really do it justice when it comes to low light (the FZ30 has the same problem). With any reasonable light level it does a really good job. Also I have a 2.2X teleconverter for it now, even though Im still trying to get the correct adaptor to fit it to the camera That means an SLR isnt going to match it in the areas it does well in without paying out a very serious amount of dosh. TBH what I was thinking of was a pair of lenses to cover the 18-200mm range with an SLR but even then the Lumix would tend to remain my main camera. You certainly cant hold an SLR single handed with a 400mm f/2.8 zoom fastened onto it and hope to take an acceptable photo.
Examples copied from the Ebay is evil thread...
Taken from between the White City and St Marys lighthouse. First of each triplet of photies is minimum zoom (36mm equiv), then full zoom (432mm equiv) and the third with the 2.2X teleconverter hand held infront of the lens. Light wasnt good and it was windy too.

Providing you get a suitable stepup or stepdown ring you can fit that teleconverter to an SLR lens. :)
It probably would fit without any problem on a 200mm zoom, possibly even a 300.
Suggest you go and get some *STRONG* alcoholic beverage ready *before* you look at this lens review - but - its slobberlicious....

that is one big lens, though its shear size would limit its usefulness in practice I suspect. I believe Ill stick to my 50-200 DA ED, not least because I dont have Ã,£5000!
What screen you got there on the wall? Looks kinda swish 8)
Sorry, kind of had to:

I doubt if any of us has Ã,£5k to blow on a single lens, or the use for it. Well except maybe the couple of pros on here...
Still I doubt if even they would really have a use for it. Its purely a wildlife photography item IMO, very few sports photographers will need that sort of focal length.

it isnt always like that. ;)
my 8 yr old nephew raped me at Age Of Empirse multiplayer :(
id have kicked his ass in my day, just aint played it for years ! (thats my excuse)
Thats because your too old.
Youve done the tank rush and know that its the superior tactic when in a fight against an opponent... so when against an opponent now you try to be more adventurous. Its more of a battle simulation as opposed to a game to you :)
Youll have your Infantry up front... archers behind, and finally your siege engines bringing up the rear all in formation and looking pretty.
Your nephew... has 50,000,000 cavalry... and sets them all charging at you from whatever direction they can :D
^^ lol yeah
tho I have to let him win, he;s only little !
a few years back (he started playing age of empires when he was YOUNG) I used to charge all my units in, then turn them on each other so theyd die in his base... hes be jumping out of his seat with joy as his 1 basic knight killed my 200 charging elephants :o
Which just shows how unrealistic the game was...
no no no
Id send my units into his base, then turn them on each other so they kill themselves !
