A car has crashed into a crowd watching a parade involving Dutch Queen Beatrix and her family, reportedly killing at least two people.

A royal spokeswoman said at least 14 people were hurt as the car careered into a monument, narrowly missing an open-topped bus carrying the royals.

No members of the royal family were hurt in the incident, in Apeldoorn, about 90km (56 miles) from Amsterdam.

Dutch police told the BBC it appeared to have been a deliberate attack.

The royal family spokeswoman said the driver of the car was injured and arrested on the spot.

Wow, that sucks royally.

I guess its no different than the suicide bombers, but for some reason it seems a lot closer to home. Probably because footage of other things tends to come after the event, rather than there being lots of media coverage as it happens :(

Crazy! the police cyclist was lucky! the driver was problay high dutch weed and taking out the royal family was the last mission for the day!

when you said dont click if youve got a weak stomach i thought you meant there was gonna be some blood and organs on the floor or something. its a bit tame
