Why are there so many spiders around this year? We got millions of the podgy garden type outside and the house is full of the one that makes the missus scream.
Same here, loads in the garden and a masssssssive one in the bedroom, made a hell of a thump when I chucked it out onto the roof.
Spiders are nice, a sign of good air and they keep other buggers at bay.
I don't mind spiders so much as the cobwebs, there's nothing worse than going out my front door or getting into the car and getting webbed because one has decided to set up camp overnight.
It's the arseholes that build webs at face level in the archway in the garden that piss me off, I don't mind most others tbh.
The missus doesn't believe me that getting webbed is a thing, she's somehow managed to go her entire life avoiding it.

They're just trying to give you a "spider hug" using their cobwebs!
My guess is there are more spiders because climate wise it's been a better summer than previous years (warmer and drier)...and the wet start to the year meant ideal conditions for lots of fly species, meaning more food?
They are after bigger pray, look out ! http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/forecast-calls-spiders
Not had more spiders here but plenty of large snails during damp days. Been thinking of Hitchcock's The Birds but replaced with snails. A very slow chase and slobbery death awaits :worried:
We had a massive one in the bedroom at the weekend, you could hear my girlfriends scream from a few miles away!
