Hi Just thought I'd let you know that the actual threads (not the main forum) all have horizontal scroll bars on the posts themselves and the whole page, but there is nothing there on the rest of the page so is pointless and quite annoying   :dunno:

And before you say why are you using IE8, this is my work computer and it's not by choice  :gag:

Are you sure its not in compatability mode? Click the little broken page icon near the address bar.

Every day I get a client somewhere complaining their site suddenly looks wierd in IE7/8, every time its because they've turned on that wretched compatibility mode by accident

The bloody thing is near the refresh so people accidentally hit it.
It puts ie 8 not only in ie7 mode but quirks too so a really sh*te ie7.
If your on ie 8 upgrade to ie 9 and embrace css3 and better looking sites. Your sites will still load sh*te slow compared to chrome and the latest firefox but hey:) better then 8.
MS will silent update you to ie9 anyway soo .

Only if you are have a windows version high enough to use it and have automatic updates switched on. XP will get IE8. Many companies still use IE 6 but have updates switched off. Should start this month for those who do have auto updates on.

The sort of people that this is a problem for me as clients are the sort that wouldn't know how to disable automatic updates, it's a real winner in my book. These are the sorts of people who you can ask what browser they are using and they tell you "erm... Windows" :)

Not just auto updates. Install of updates manually over the network will contain the code to force the IE update as well.
You have to download and run a special program to prevent the IE from updating.
