I didnt think the worker was worth it
I didnt think it applied to small firms
Hes disabled
They cant cope on their own and its more than theyd get in their home country

I found some hard to believe TBH.
shocking indeed
Hes a waste of space
- Why would you pay him at all ??
She only wanted Ã,£3 an hour
- Fair enough, why would you offer more ?
I didnt think the worker was worth it
- thats what my boss says to me :(
I didnt think it applied to small firms
- fantastic excuse, Im going to remember that one :)
Hes disabled

They cant cope on their own and its more than theyd get in their home country
- Damn fecking right, pay them no more than half the minimum wage and hopefully they stop coming over to find work.
Shes on benefits - those and her pay add up to minimum wage
- I know people who look for work that is short hours/minimum wage for this reason...ponsing bastards :/
Theyre over 65
- Why oh why would anyone want to work once they hit 65 ?
They cant speak English
- Again, pay them less. Even if they learn English, pay them less.
I only took him on as a favour
- hahaha, gutted.
Hes a waste of space
- Why would you pay him at all ??
--Exactly, you would sack him.
She only wanted Ã,£3 an hour
- Fair enough, why would you offer more ?
-- Because thats what the law says?
I didnt think the worker was worth it
- thats what my boss says to me :(
-- your boss is right, but he still has to pay at least the minimum wage :P
I didnt think it applied to small firms
- fantastic excuse, Im going to remember that one :)
-- No excuse not knowing the law unfortunately.
Hes disabled

-- Good choice
They cant cope on their own and its more than theyd get in their home country
- Damn fecking right, pay them no more than half the minimum wage and hopefully they stop coming over to find work.
-- Dont employ them at all and they will leave quicker... Its just exploitation.
Shes on benefits - those and her pay add up to minimum wage

-- Should not be claiming benefits, if you are then they should be means tested and up your minimum wage rather than be a part of it.
Theyre over 65
- Why oh why would anyone want to work once they hit 65 ?
--To earn money? Especially useful for those who dont have a pension.
They cant speak English
- Again, pay them less. Even if they learn English, pay them less.
-- Dont employ them and dont pay them at all. There are plenty of jobs where you dont have to speak English anyway.
I only took him on as a favour
- hahaha, gutted.
-- Those sort of favours are bad for business. If a person is worth employing then they should be worth the minimum wage.
simple solution for this is to get a load of students/grads in & call it an internship - then you dont have to pay them at all!
^^
plus it doesnt apply to company directors, there family, and there friends.
the trick is to go in and say "hello mate" to everyone every morning ;)
or contractors....
if they say agreed to a flat fee instead of an hourly rate & the project went on for longer than they anticipated
