Using a laptop on the bed, if I lean on my elbow after a while the hand goes to sleep. Anyone else ever try to use their computer with a dead hand, it makes the most boring of tasks a refreshing challenge.

Leon

Haha I sometimes have my hand/arm go dead when I'm using my tablet in bed while lying in certain postions... Think typing is hard? Try using a touchpad to type :P

my desk is in a corner, one desk against each wall...  I sit in the cornet bit where the 2 of them join...

i nearly always sit with my left elbow on the desk with my head in my hand....

left arm goes dead all the time.... glad it happens to other people tbh, until I read this thread I assumed I had a weird arm :-)

*she-devil*

Happens to me occasionally too, it does get quite annoying after a while!!

If I lie on my back when I sleep, with my arms at my side, I sometimes lose feeling in my arms. Once I've woken up and raised my arm to see what time it was only to hit myself in the face my arm was so dead ><

I was once asleep dreaming I was eating a mars bar... I woke up half way through to find my arm was numb and I was chewing on my thumb... it was ok will I got the feeling back and jumped up realising I was covered in blood :s

Now that's funny!

Sleep related but not dead arm related, I once woke up one morning to turn off my alarm which was at the top of the bed, and my bed was against the wall, and thought I was on the far side as usual, but wasn't and gave the brick wall a full headbut. It hurt!

i once woke up with a dead arm and proper freaked out cos i thought my arm had fell off in my sleep. scariest 5 minutes of my life.

ahahahahaaaa

Serious

'Dead arm' is a lack of blood flow to the limb from restricted blood vessels resulting in the cells not getting enough oxygen to function fully. A very similar condition can also happen to your legs.

Another issue I have been subject to is nerve tremor, where the nerves in my lower arm and hand or leg and foot activate the muscles they control randomly. This is often caused by the nerve being trapped between bone and an outside hard surface.
