Quote from: SeriousTo be brutally honest I have dropped Casio. I used to wear them constantly but the last one the metallic areas were just sprayed onto plastic and rubbed off very quickly.

Spray-on metal - nice :/

Of all the cheap end watches Ive had, timex have had the nicest style, but the worst actual quality. Itd need correcting weekly etc. One of them just decided to break after a month or two, and the jeweller wouldt even take a look at it on the grounds of how mass produced and cheap they are.

If it dies within the first year, it goes back - no excuses. If it doesnt keep adequate time, and Ive had a watch like that, it goes back, not fit for purpose. flywheel watches have the excuse that they are adjustable and the issue is inherent, quartz dont have that as an option.

Every recent watch Ive bought/seen keeps adequate time, even digital £1 jobs. The batteries might fail after a year but the watches work so mass production is no excuse.

Exactly, which is why I doubt Ill never own another Timex again ;)

Problem is the situation with Timex has changed since the days of fully mechanical watches, modern ones are almost inevitably very accurate, no matter who they are made by. So far it seems accurate to well within a second.

Unfortunately their reputation has stuck with some people.

Im happy with my casio now, it updates itself every night so Im pretty sure every day its accurate to within milliseconds. The compass seems to be as accurate as my Silva compass, and the barometer seems to be pretty accurate too, just have to wait and see how useful seeing the air pressure trends is.
