There are four main parts covering seperate encounters the crew face, if done well this could be a blockbuster with big effects for the ship and plenty of scope for leading & supporting actors.

The Rama Series (well the last three specifically, I know they are making a lame first one).
BattleTech. Theres scope for everything from an all out action fest through to a quite intense political drama.
I second that one. Though not sure what audience it would end up catering to.
Ringworld would be good, though you just know in the cinema loads of uneducated folks will be going "Such a halo rip-off..."
