Following the horse flesh in burgers scandal I was wondering if any of you lot would eat it. Of course with prior knowledge of what you were eating.
And I would if I wasn't enforced piscean.
If I were to go to a pub, and see they had horse on the menu, either as a horse burger or horse steak, unless they had something else that sounded absolutely amazing, I would almost definitely order it. I've eaten it before, but so long ago and as a child, it doesn't really count.
The horses annoy me in the new forest and it helps to know many of them end up as meat :)
I'd likely also eat dog, cat or guinea pig if presented to me. I don't see the fuss over it.
Yep, i would actually like to try it given the chance.
Dont see what all the fuss is about, i am only concerned that they would be so stupid to think they would get away with it ::)
All the people who are sickened really do not want to know what goes into cheap sausages and kebab meat!
I found a cows eyelid complete with all the lashes in a fray bentos meat pie when i was around 7 years old, i still eat meat pies :heehaw:
10% fat 90% shergar
.. just as long as it doesnt give me the trotts ;D
I don't think this poll will last furlong ???
Horse meat is eaten all over the continent so it's no biggie. If I'm told it tastes good I'll chow anything.
I am for a small amount of meat (we overconsume), horse meat taste good though, had some 2 weeks ago which my mom served :)
I've eaten horse steak in france before and it is really nice.
Horse contaminated beef burgers though not so nice, if they will sacrifice stuff like that to save a bit of money imagine what else they do.

How long before they find human DNA in them?
Yes. Had it plenty of times on mainland Europe and it's delicious.
I'd eat most things tbh... I think you can get it in some restaurants over here it though its illegal to kill horses for food some places will import the meat from the continent.

They probably have had human meat in something, although more probably by accident than plan.
I've eaten...
Horse
Lamb
Beef
Chicken
Turkey
Pork
Zebra
Eland
Crocodile
Ostrich
Pigeon
Rabbit
Venison
Reindeer
Giraffe
Kangaroo
Basically pretty much any meat goes and if I found myself as part of the Sri Lanka rugby team and in a plane crash, I'd probably eat human too.

I think that depends on you being one of the survivors...
TBH I'd be really quite upset if I discovered that MY animal had been made into a burger (unless that was the reason for keeping the animal in the first place) but other than that I'll eat pretty much anything that's not poisonous. I'd probably have an issue with great apes or dolphins, but not horses.
I DO have an issue with being told that something is beef and it turning out to be horse though, that's another matter entirely. I have a general policy that if the maker is not prepared and able to specify which animal this "meat" came from, I'm not prepared to eat it.
No moose or snake !

You need to add more fish to that list, swordfish and shark are both tasty.
Not a lot I haven't eaten. Croc is amazing.
I'd just be pissed on principle that I'd eaten horse but had been told it was beef. That's just a trading standards issue.
Still, there's non-Muslims eating Halal meat in hospitals without their knowledge [or consent] but what the heck, eh?...
::)
A few years ago I attended a wild food talk by an absolute nutter, he's a taxidermist who believes there are wild big cats at large in Dorset... Anyway, at this talk he had a selection of road kill dishes to try, and as a result as well as the usual fare of things like crocodile, ostrich, swordfish etc I have also eaten:
Rat
Badger
Fox
2 species of owl
Herring gull
Crow
Slipper limpet
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things on the list. They were cooked up as various curries etc. All quite tasty, though fox had a slightly not nice taste to it. Apparently it was legal for us to eat the owls as him being a taxidermist, he was licensed to handle and prepare protected species etc.
My taste buds are intrigued!
