My friends PC aint working......

It turns on, but there arent any beeps like there normally is at post. All the fans spin etc. Ive tried resetting the CMOS, and disconnecting everthing except the GFX card, Ive also tried changing the RAM etc around and completely removing it. But none of this has worked. Any ideas??

take everything off of the mobo (ram/cpu/gf/hdd etc) so that you have just the mobo and psu connected.

Then switch it on, you should get at least a no CPU beep.
If you dont then I would say that the mobo is deaded

Well, ive finally got round to taking this PC apart.

Ive taken everything out, except for PSU and mobo..........and there isnt any sounds or beeps etc, so is that 99% dead mobo?? Or could it be the PSU?

Its always worth checking the PSU as it could be a knackered rail but chances are if the fans are spinning but no-ones home...its the mobo.

Is there an easy way to check the PSU mate??

JUst it isnt my PC and tbh, I cant be bothered taking my main PC apart to try the PSU in the knackered PC, as Im not getting paid or anything.

if youve got a multimeter you can close the power switch pin and then read the voltages, other than that I am not sure.

Basically you short two of the pins on the atx connector. If the psu fan starts, then its not completely dead (and you can use a multimeter to check each of the voltage rails one by one).

PC wont post without a CPU & if it wont POST it wont give any post beeps =D

So I need the CPU in really?? then if no beeps, probably dead?

more than likely.. make sure there is a speaker plugged into the motherboard if there isnt one onboard

Yeah, made sure there was, or I would have felt a right dumbass!

Try with CPU and then add the memory. I have had a board that does nothing  at all without a good CPU in, the fans still worked though.

PSU Tester.  

Although you will rarely use it its a handy bit of kit to have lying around.
