WinXP SP2, IE7

Ive a minor annoyance.  Every time I click on a link to a page with the word A-venger in it (remove the - ) the browser begins to load then shuts down.  No crash, no hang, just closes.

Any ideas?

Obviously, I cant search for the word in question because, well, you guessed it...


 

Start with the usual virus scan, just in case. Think there was one that did that a very long time ago (in computing terms). Also an adaware scan. Clean out cache and anything else you can think of.

Dont forget to remove lint from belly button too.

start/run/msconfig/hit return

startup tab, disable all

then

services tab, hide all microsoft services, disable all


this can at least get rid of some of the cack running in the background...

Hmm, I do all that as standard.
