Reading The Register reminded me of the BBCs streaming media player. Its apparently being fully launched on Xmas day, and as such I thought Id look around for some info.

Regarding the problem of media not playing, the help section says :

It could be that Windows Media Player 9 (or above) isnt set to play content with a DRM licence. To fix this follow these steps:

1.      Open Windows Media Player

2.       Select the Tools menu and choose Options then click the Privacy tab.

3.      Make sure that Acquire licences automatically for protected content is ticked

Point 3 - for some reason this seems like a big no-no. I dont like much being done automatically unless I know exactly what it does. Would having this option ticked allow for any exploits or similar?

Id love to be able to watch Eastenders whilst hungover on a weekend.  :mrgreen:

As far as I can tell, this option would only be a problem if you acquired some audio/video with DRM, as it would automatically try to get the licence for it.

My main problem with the iPlayer is that it doesnt work on Linux
