Think I asked this on the old tek, but obviously cant refer back to it now.

Im thinking of getting one, mainly to use with MSN etc. But also to make small vid clips of my car etc via my laptop to upload on the net to mates.

The questions, lol:
So do all webcams work in that way? Can you record straight on to the hard-drive? Or will I need a third party program? If so which program? Thinking of getting it off ebay as its cheap as chips! Will 1.3megapixels be ok or should I look for a lot higher?

Cheers :)

There is loads of software to record straight to hard disk.
even M$ moviemaker can do that.

chrisdicko

Oh right, didnt know that. Is there any other 3rd party ones out there you could recommend?

Also any info on web cams?

Cheers :)

brummie

moviemaker is good for quick vids

other than that i use "windvd creator" for making them into DVDs

Cool, cheers mate. Seen one on ebuyer as well which gets great reviews....and has a security program as well so turn on with movement etc....so will probably go for that!

Ive had a quick look on google but cant see anything.....but does anyone know of a free Webca Security Package....so your webcam starts recording when people get near your car, go in your room etc?

Cheers
