Doubt anybody is interested, but I just got rid of the jailbreak on my iPhone, finally got sick of the bugs and slowdown. (safari crashing etc).

Most of the apps were never used anyway, so id rather have a speedier more stable phone.

Serious

With the iphone you either love it, and all things Apple, hate it to the point of loathing, or just wonder what the fuss is about.

A lot of amature stuff is unstable, they dont have the manpower to sort out all the bugs.

Personally I would rather have a different phone entirely.

Vini

Does this mean youve jailbroken it, or reversed it back to its original state by removing the jailbreak sw?

Either way, as I stated in the earlier iPhone thread, I knew Id get bored and sell it - that I just done, sold mine for £310.

Apple product?  Buggy?  Slow?

Never!

SteveF

What apps did you have on it that was making it crash safari?

Ive been using them jailbroken for ages now with no issues.  I think Id cry if I had to go back to not having MSN, VoIP, etc.

Yeah I jailbroken it and reversed it by removing the software and doing a factory restore, its not 100% there might be a few files still on there, but its running as it first was.

Only because I Jailbroken it and had a shed load of apps. Its fine now.

I cant remember tbh, but I didnt use the apps much, the slowdown/bugs are barely noticable/not very often, but why suffer them when i dont use the apps?

the most noticable part was the unlocking of the screen took about half a second longer than it should, probably to do with the extra summerboard icons/settings.

I agree about the amature software being buggy, its to be expected, plus most of the software available is version 0.003b.

Understandable you might prefer a different phone, thats the great thing about opinion isnt it.

However I completely disagree that you have to be apple fanboy or near loathing. I dislike many apple products as I think theyre overpriced and not even that pretty anymore. I just love the iPods, I needed a new mp3 player, I dont have that much music that I listen to regularly enough to justify putting on my mp3 player (my zune was nearly empty!) and I needed a new phone at the same time, I also wanted to move to contract, the iPhone was a really good option for me, as it allowed me to surf the net easily which is something i really like.

Ive tried a few mp3 players, and although they all have good points, personally ive never loved one the way I loved my ipod nano. For me to pay for a good phone (good quality is essential, i absolutely refuse to use a phone which has poor hardware, especially in the microphone or speaker, when i speak to my friend (who has a Nokia N95?) the sound quality is unbeatable, sometimes i literally forget im on the phone and think hes in the room, my girlfriend however, who has a samsung something or other, one of the slidey ones. Is crap, its quite a fancy phone, cost about a hundred, but the microphone is just poor.

hmm Im ranting a bit, but im just sick of having to defend my iphone purchase, i think 50% of it is jealousy, but I also think a lot of people look at me using an iphone and think either: apple fanboy or trendy rich fashion person or idiot. But the fact is, as an ipod, web browser and phone, its effing great, and the price was fine for me too.

Would I buy the iPhone 2? no way, ive got everything i need thank you.

Serious

Reason I would go for another phone is that the iphone doesnt have the right features for me, rather than the phone or Apple itself. I basically use the one I have when I need to contact someone. My phone calls last about twenty seconds on average and I hardly ever text. A good camera that you can easily download the pictures from would be the most important feature, next being size, battery life and keyboard.

Its easy enough for me to carry a separate MP3 player, and I perfer doing that, so Im unlikely to use that feature.

I do wish I had a decent camera with flash sometimes, but then id also want decent battery life, so I guess its a case of waiting for technology to get a bit better.

I done my ipod touch and not had any problems with the software and very quick email etc. Do it properly and not get 50 programs that may or may not be good and be selective just as you would any computer if you do not want crap and spyware and apps killing your resources and your fine and dandy

I think my biggest downfall was that because installer.app, isnt the best it can be (or will be?) I find myself often installing apps just to see what they are, then uninstalling them, which often leaves crap behind (saw it when logging in through ssh) clogging the system up.
