Can anyone tell me what the fastest CPU this board will support is? My poor old 1700, overclocked as it is, is starting to fray around the edges, so Im looking at doing one final CPU/GPU updgrade to keep me going until I can afford a new system.

3200

i have a 2500 moby in mine as it runs cooler and therfore lets me have a quieter system

Easily available then a Sempron2800 or similar.  They are basically AthlonXP T-Bred cores, so look for the one that is the same/similar in actual speed ratings and youll get an idea of performance.

Hmm. I wander if its worth bothering then. My 1700+ is running happy at 2000Mhz and I was under the impression that the 3200+ runs at 2200Mhz?

bit 50/50

3200 will overclock too bit will you see that much improvement?

Extra cache and that though aint it?

No idea mate, thats why I was asking if itll be worth the upgrade or not now they are *relatively* cheap.  8)  Anyone have any ideas if Ill see any form of worthwhile performance increase?

yeah, ive got an 1800+ and an XP 2800+ sat here.  The performance is definatly noticable.  Same amount of RAM and pretty much identical HDD setups.

Get a second hand one. Its not gonna lose you anything testing it overnight
