It was just announced that starting this Friday, the price of the Xbox 360 in Europe will be dropping.

Let's cut to the chase with the old and new prices*

Xbox 360 - was: €349.99 / £249.99  now: €269.99 / £199.99
Xbox 360 Elite - was: €449.99 / £299.99  now: €369.99 / £259.99
Xbox 360 Arcade – was  €269.99 / £199.99 now  €199.99 / £159.99

Again, these new prices will be effective in Europe from this Friday, March 14th.

It would be the first time Ive ever seen a equal £/$ price drop on technology tbh.

An $80 price drop rarely ends up being a £40 UK price drop.

If they werent so big, and noisy, and icky of interface I would get another one to use as a media centre extender. As it is, Im going to pick up a couple of Apple TVs from the states.

Love my 360 for gaming though.

I was thinking that after my upgrade I could give my original 360 to my rents for use as a MCE; but your point is a valid one.

Are the nex boxes not a lot quieter?  My 360 is ancient (day of release lol) and loud.  Id assumed the new boxes would be using a smaller pitch processor so should need less cooling, etc.

Well my elite I got when it came out in the UK and it is no where near a few m8es 360s when I came over theres before moving out and not as load as my cousins.
I think all later ones get better do they not?

Its the DVD drives that tend to be noisy, most new ones have benq drives and the new 65nm CPU (not gpu)

A huge part is if I get a 160Gb Apple TV I can sync all my music to it without needing to stream and it will also be the best solution for the numerous video podcasts I subscribe to.

Love the 360, just think moving to Apple will make me a happier bunny.
