Looking more than likely that Ill be getting an XDA Orbit 2 with WM6 Pro.

Never used WM before so looking for any pointers.

Right now Im thinking Id like to play with...

Mozilla Minimo
Google Maps Mobile / GPS
Google Gear
Codecs?
Remote Desktop Mobile

What do you lot use on WM?

Will I be able to sync with the exchange server at work AND my POP3 accounts/Outlook 2007 on my laptop at home?

Shakey

Pocket putty (Almost identical to the desktop version)
another vote for google maps
Im not such a fan of minimo, as it feels unfinished.

Indeed the only things I used to have on my PDA is transport tycoon deluxe, SimCity and Monopoly... didnt use it for anything else other than mobile messaging via exchange.

On my PDA last year I used Vito Technologies ActiveTrace and SmartNavigator programs on my PDA with a bluetooth GPS dongle. They provide basic tracking features with waypoint marking etc. You can put maps in Smartnavigator but I preferred the blankness. both exported KML files for in google maps/earth, and activetrace provided features for stats like elevation and max speed etc.

I also used some program or other that opened virtual ports to allow multiple gps programs to run at the same time using the same bluetooth unit & port

I used the pocketpc but I figure that either that or the smartphone versions would work?

Nothing really.

I cant see anything of anyuse other than what it was made for.

I use gsplayer, TCPMP, Mobipocket, htc touch keypad, sprite backup, co-pilot 6, pocketIRC, pocket Putty, Windows Live Messenger.

Used to have lots more on it but now dont bother.

From time to time I also use SMSexporter to backup my text messages to CSV.

Oooh almost forgot my must have bit of kit: pTravelAlarm its bloody awesome, plays any mp3 track, has 10 alarms to set, a settable snooze function, and is about the only alarm program I trust to wake me up in the morning. Its awesome.

Just got my Orbit II yesterday.

Straight away... Mobipocket reader, pTravelAlarm.

Not felt the need to put anything else on it just yet.

Will probably end up with SMSexporter, find!, putty, sprite backup and TCPMP on it soon.

What do you think of the Orbit II so far?

Good, beefier than the XDA Orbit (my old phone) and so things run faster, loads quicker after a power off, and the battery lasts just as long.

Loving the HSDPA access, and co-pilot 7 is awesome. :)

The casing is incredibly shiny, but the included "pouch" actually cleans it every time you put it away. The headset control unit is awesome, works even when the phone is locked so you dont need to type in a password, or pin just to change tracks or pause.

The screen is odd to people if youre used to a typical stylus pda thing, as I think its toughened up for finger use. Really works well, dont see any need for a screen protector due to the hard nature of the covering, and the fancy cleaning pouch thing. Believe it has incorporated the tech from the iphone touch screen too.

I have noticed pressing things with a shirt in between my finger and the screen, means I have to press harder for it to read what im pressing. Without the shirt I barely have to touch the screen, when I text my fingers kinda glide over the keyboard rather than prod.

Very nicely put together bit of kit, and the HTC Touchflo + other HTC software that comes on it really improves the experience, I in particular love the input methods, having already "stole" them and installed them on my XDA Orbit 1 prior to getting this phone.

I have the XDA Trion for work.   Which is the same as the orbit but I prefer having the slide out keyboard tbh.

Except for having to reset it the odd day and the gastly battery life it is a good piece of kit and I do like Windows Mobile 6.  Im just waiting for the ability to sync with more than one exchange mailbox.  :yarr:

I thought the same with the slide out keyboard but the input on the orbit II is so impressive :) Really fast and easy to use. Particularly love the XT9 combined with the touch keypad function... almost like a smart qwerty keyboard :)

Plus the bonus of thinness (i.e. fits in the pocket nicer) is good. The slide out keyboard ones are thick as heck.
