I havent got a clue when it comes to making websites etc, probably the only part of computers ive never got into.

My sister and her hubby have just bought a pub and one of there friends has offered to make them a site for the pub, i cant see it having much info on it.
A few pictures, address and phone number and directions, maybe the menu is all that would be on it, probably only 2 pages.

This mate has said hell do it for £250 with a £10 for any future changes/updates once its up.

is that good? ive got no clue how long these things take?

Thanks
Rob

Eggtastico

find a school kid wholl be glad to do it for £75

White Giant

I agree with Egg, not much point paying £250 for a few pictures and the opening times.

i just bought a fasthosts account, ill give it ago myself. how hard can it be.

diy and charge £195. You make £200, They save £50.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Tbh you wont find it that hard as as you said, they wont really need dynamic content on there. Im sure if you get stuck and have questions people around here and elsewhere will lend some help.

Depends if they are going to come to him for updates, or what.

Personally Id say "Ill do a freebie but I do it in my own timescale which can be as long as I want" or £50 gets you one done in around a month.

After that changes would be around £25 each min charge. This is to stop them hassling me because they wanted a single picture up, and rather to make them compile a list of changes that actually makes it worth my while to change something.

If they want it self updating as much as possible, requiring dynamic content... then Id be quoting nearer £300 as chance that youll get called back for further work is less, but its more likely youll be called back for support, as they will forget how to do the site edits themselves. £400 will get them a website, with a help function and documentation on how to use it.

Then its only size that makes it go up.

Also I stipulate that they find the hosting and domain. I can recommend features, and do some price comparisons if they want, but they have to organise it.

TBH thats not half bad for a first attempt!

knighty

yeah, thats pretty damn good !

Not bad for a first attempt :)

Think the text on the left needs improvement as its a little difficult to read. But its a good sound design there.

As for the internet map link thing... you can embed small googlemap applets in your page, that would allow people to zoom in and out to see where your sisters pub is a little better than a static image. :) May want to consider looking into that.
