As above - got a bit of a random bonus today from the boss

Its a LE40F86BD apparently

Any good? Never followed the LCD reviews as I am a projector man

Yes. I love my Sammy LCDs. Take a bit of time setting it up and you should be happy, especially for the price you paid.

I worked in electrical retail for 4 years and chose a Samsung LCD for my TV.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo... Again.

I own a Sammy HD LCD and recommend them to friends all the time. Very good sets at decent prices.

Sammy panels are among the best depending on the range. Thats a damn fine bonus!

I love them, got on hd is sweet, 360 games - sweet and my pc screen is a dell which is basically a samsung lcd

They are excellent and even some of last years range are absolute bargains atm.

There main rivals are pannasonic and LG and tbh I really wouldnt look anywhere else.

Sony screens are nice and sharp but just lack all the colour and real black for me
LG are coming on strong arnt they I have looked at their screens a number of times now and thought - wow that aint half bad

Cypher

Pannasonics imo have the best blacks.  They are little more expensive that the sammys

I have a 26" Panny myself.

I bought an LG screen lc56 etc, picture is good even with analogue, they also look really good visually.  The only problem is the sound out, input is great 2 hdmi, s-vid in, rca in etc, 2 scart5, but sound out only optical is available.

Leon

flatmate brought a 36" HD sammy LCD when I was in London and it was a great screen, good price too. Damn nice bonus :)

The F86 is a great set.

Im a big fan of Samsung LCDs, but its well worth checking out Panasonics plasma range at the F86s price point, specifically the full HD Panasonic TH42PZ80 & TH42PZ85. The blacks on those sets are almost Kuro good.
