I really like the Repsol livery on the Honda bikes.. and since i cant be having a CBR1000 on a CBT what do people think of these:



CBR 125 in Repsol Colours, i like the look, and im guessing itll be far better than the cheap chinese import i was considering.

Anyone had a CBR 125? any good? what are they like to live with and for a n00b?

Can probably get a good one for around £2k

The bikes an ok learner. It has a slightly reduced turning circle compared to some 125s which can make for fun when performing your "turn in the road". Other than that though, itll do 70ish on a flat road.

Im looking to sell mine soon, will probably have it up for about £1800ono w/o the silly colour scheme

im gonna do my CBT before i buy a bike so its gonna be a while before im looking to buy and i gotta have the silly colours

If youre not going to get that CBR125 to do your CBT then I would have to suggest giving it a miss completely.

I bought mine to learn on. Since passing my test in December I have pretty quickly found the limitations of this bike. Its great for shooting around town but take it out onto a dual-carriage way / motorway and well, youll be be sh*tting yourself all the time.
The bike will do 70 on a flat stretch but going up and down the hills on the M3 around Winchester (if you know where i mean), itll vary between 55 and 80...which is fecking scarey when youve got a HGV behind you :s

Im trying to decide whether to get shot of mine and get a CBF500 or a Hornet (restricted). The restriction applies to top end but my old mans restricted CBF500 will easily do 90+ (according to him). And thats much more useful for motorway riding.

i was planning to do my CBT and then learn or rather get used to riding for a few months on a 125cc since im limited till i do DAS or whatever

i doubt itll go out of town or see higher than 60mph tbh

Thats cool. In that case the CBR125RR will be ideal. Its a nice bike and as its light you can throw it around quite easily

Im definitely pleased that I chose to get some experience on a 125 before jumping up to something bigger. Ive had a couple of short rides on my Dads bike and the difference in control (and weight) is quite surprising. After riding a 125, a 500 takes quite a bit more concentration and clutch control

Looks good, but I like things simple personally. Id like that bike in black, maybe with a red stripe or red high-lighting.

Ive just re-read my posts and realised that I confused CBT with test. *sigh*

Yeah the 125 is a great bike for learning on; as long as youre not planning on doing DAS (in which case you cannot use the 125).

Cool, as far as i was aware i could do the CBT ride the 125cc then do a course for the DAS where they provide a 500cc for the training/test

yeap, you can do exactley that and its got to be better than not riding at all between your DAS lessons.

The only thing Id say is avoid those intensive courses unless youve got some on road riding experience. On the morning I did my test I watched 2 blokes turn up with their 1 instructor (between them) to take their DAS tests. One of them almost dropped the bike pulling into the test centre and the other was so wobbly it was scarey :s

Yeah id never have enough confidence to just do a course and DAS, im not even sure iv got what it takes to ride a bike full stop heh

I only did my CBT because my Dad was and I thought "if he can do it...".

After doing my CBT I wasnt sure if I was bothered with the whole bike thing or not; I wasnt that confident after the CBT and certainly wouldnt have wanted to have ridden on the road alone. A couple of weeks later I thought Id do some lessons anyway just to see and after 2 lessons I changed my mind. Now I cannot get enough of it; well, when the weathers nice

Its definitely worth doing the CBT and a couple of open road lessons. If after that you decide its not for you then youve not really lost that much (probably about £100).

its the lack of weight and strength that worry me most

Well then, either:

Get down the gym you namby pamby lightweight, or
go and do your CBT anyway, after all, women can do it
