Im after a bike, and thinking about a honda shadow. What do you guys think about those ?

Hmmm personally I hate cruisers, they are pretty pointless in england as they are a tad crap at corners but I suppose they are big in the states with miles and miles of straight roads

Well inner city states is just corners as its all grids. I wanted a sports bike originally but since I want to use it to go to the shore theyre not comfortable enough for 2+ hour (one way) journeys.

Consider sports tourers - a ZX-12 is a good choice - I had one before i got the ZX-10 and I wish I had never got rid of it. Hyabusa is also fun - both are more comfortable than any cruiser style bike - most of them are hideous long distance.

What has your bike experience been before? If you havent been on one in a few years, getting the likes of a ZX-12 or Hyabusa could be dangerous

The Shadow is a nice looking bike (imo) but I was put off of getting one by the salesman. He advised against it as they are a seriously high maintenance bike; at least if you want to keep it looking good they are.
You pretty much have to clean all the chrome after every ride otherwise itll start to tarnish / rust / decay etc.

Given that youre in the states, surely youve got to be tempted by a chopper

The problem with choppers is - that theyre sh*t.

You cant steer them, they have no brakes worth talking about, and theyre really, REALLY uncomfortable for journeys more than from your garage to outside your garage to polish them.

i cant stand choppers myself either, they dont actually seem to excel in any area, cruisers are more comfortable and superbikes are much much faster

Not being any kind of bike fan I have to admit Choppers look the coolest by a mile. You dont look at a chopper and think ahh, now theres a man with inadequate brakes and insufficient handling. Funnily enough (I SWEAR this is true) someone had one in Tesco car park last night.

.......he looked cool!

When I see someone on a chopper I either think - ah - hes gay or what an idiot, I hope he is heading home so he can ge that dangerous wreck off the roads

No the suzuki was crap.
Looking at a shadow on sunday which I am more hopeful of, and hes willing to gift it to avoid sales tax.
