i had a scrote, paid £200 for it and then had to pay another £200 to get it thru MOT, f**ked clutch, rust everywhere and knackered CV boots and wheel bearings

tbh, unless youre going for real bargain bucket type stuff... road tax shouldnt be an important factor when youre deciding which car to get !

£60 is less than 1 tank of a fuel !

I was reading about electric cars lastnight, apparently some place in canada is doing full kits but they are pricy, but some blokes have made their own at home, transplanting in mark 1 golfs etc.

Looks quite fun

But doubtful its a cheap solution

Actually the LX ones have sh*t engines, not the Finesse ones.

they use the same engines. LX and finesse is a trim level

Ford engines from that generation are woeful.

I would go out on a limb and say that the diesel was possibly the worst small capacity diesel in the world at the time

They were still (And may still be!) using the rattly old pushrod piece of dung as well

IIRC Pretty much all of them are effectively the old rattly CVH engine, but in the case of some updated with Zetec stuff.  Still a crappy underpowered POS.  

gotta love the spare wheel under the bonnet
