Me and Lynz are going to be moving into a newish build flat, and the panel behind the TV has the sky bnc connections.
Does this mean if I hook up a sky box I can pick up free to air channels? or would there be more work required to connect them up?

Providing theres a sky dish on the end of the line, any Sky tuner will pick up all the radio channels and most free-to-air channels, with the exception of Channel 4 and its associates.

I took a gamble when I was putting together my HTPC There is a satellite dish stuck on the side of the house which by the look of it looked like it had been there quite awhile before we moved in,
I had no idea if it still worked or if it was even facing the right direction,  so I ordered http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143331 to try it out.

I planed to ebay it if it couldn't pick anything up (which it couldn't with the crap software that came with the card) but with 3rd party software I get all the free to air and HD channels :)

I guess that you should be able to receive freesat HD via that connector providing that there is a dish hooked up to that connector.

either get a free sat box or if you have a pc hooked to your PC then get a Freesat HD card, which should be less expensive.

Mark

How many connectors have you got ?

In my Belfast place there is only one damned sky connector so I cant have proper sky+

soopahfly

Looks like 3.  Not really had a proper look.
Dont move in until after the honeymoon.

One connector, fastened sky box to it..

could it be hooked up to cable instead?

prob best to ask a neighbour

soopahfly

Good point, but not a cable area.

Why would they put a socket in the room if its not fastened up?

knighty

if its a new build maybe they put the wires into everyones flat and then run them up to the roof so you can easily add a sky dish if you want to ?

they normally do with with telephone lines / alarms.... put the wores in so you can add them easily later on ;)
