I got a letter in the post today from Jamaica, stating that one of my domains is due to expire (in jan 09!) and that I dont have to renew with my current registrar, and that I could pay them £20 for a year for renewing my .net domain for a year :|

Considering you can get them for ~£10 its pretty cheeky. Im guessing it also means that if Im dopey and dont renew in a few months time Im likely to end up having a cyber squatter on the domain?

Made me chuckle anyway.

£20 is still pretty cheap.  I know companies to charge as much as £65 + Vat, per year, per domain.

I got one fron a Canadian company wanting £50 for two years on my .net domain, except my domain is .com

Hmm, I need to sort out a new hosting company.
