Only played once when I turned 16 it was like buying your first legal pint at 18 but not as fun.

No, but then again Ive *never* put on any numbers for myself. I have done it for a couple of other people though.

I go for the it wont be you and lets hear it for all the suckers who buy lottery tickets principles. I just consider the odds of winning and walk away.

Every time I watch 5s Gadget show and they have their stupidly uber gadget competition, I sit there and try to work out whether your odds of winning are better than the equivalent sum of money in the lottery. The question is easy (as always) so it just comes down to the number of people that watch the show, as opposed to the number of people in the lottery etc.

Must admit all the gadgets do get mighty tempting, every week you sit there and think "why do you need three HD tvs and an OLED one too?!?!" and then remember, its one for each console!

If the draw is commercial then they have to make enough money to pay for the goods, and the phone system and other expenses. If everyone were to win one eventually then they would have spent far more money playing the game than just going out and buying the stuff.

Same with the lottery, they pay out well under half of the money paid in.

Oh theres no denying that, but the odds must be better I reckon. National lottery where everyone over 16 can take part, versus channel 5 show about gadgets, where the only people I guess would be those watching 1 channel out of craploads, and likes gadgets. Admittedly the lottery odds arent so much based on the number of people taking place, as the chance of picking 6 numbers out of however many...
