I dont know if anyone has ever noticed this (and why would you be sad enough?) but living here in Scotland and reading number plates all the time on the road, I notice that there are a huge number of Y plates around.
Now Scottish registered cars have a plate beginning with S, eg ST09 GTR. Plates beginning with a Y are Yorkshire-registered, eg YR51 FNL. I have had two of these myself, due to them being supplied through a dealer called Dixons in Doncaster. But there are so many Y plates around I get the feeling that there must be some giant leasing vehicle supplier in greater darkest Yorks....
It isnt just cars either, I see quite a few new commercial vehicles with the same.
Is it the same elsewhere?
BTW, if you dont get what Im on about see http://www.fleetdata.co.uk/newsystem.html

Arnold Clark is big in Scotland arnt they? They might register them in the land of emmerdale.

Or it could be a load of yorkshire men / women that have had the right idea and move country.

Dealers bringing them back from Auctions in Yorkshire perhaps.

I do mean new and recent Yx plates, to be clear.

Arnold Clark are indeed huge here, but why would they register them in Yorks? Arnold Clark cars usually have their name all over the rear window sticker and the reg plate fairly obviously.
