If it worked previous then taking out RAM wont make any difference, taking out the soundcard isnt likely to improve things either, although you could try it.

I think its going to have to be a PCI card for now. Cant afford a new mobo and Id be a bit annoyed spending £70 on a new one when its only one part of it thats not working!
