my little brother is thinking of getting an MR2... year 2000+ model

any ideas/input ?  what are they like ?


we was looking at celicas too.... but is leaning more twards an MR2 now...

Both those cars are super cheap here but look decent cars for the price. I been looking at them too for when I am driving here so wold be interesting to here thoughts too.

Personally, Id get an older Mk2 turbo - the younger the better - but the Mk3 is a good car.

There are some good turbo kits available.

The celica 190VVT is a better car. But its front wheel drive.

Of the 2 Id go for the Celica T-Sport

hes not bothered about how quick it is etc.. (yes... I know... hes a freak) he just wants it to look nice...

any ideas on what he should look out for when he goes to look at some ?

Ill try to talk him inot a turbo kit just for when he lets me take it for a spin

TBH I think the MK2 mr2 is a lot lot better looking than the rather girly MK3, I would have thought the celica also is a better option, not only better looking but more practical than a MK3.

If he only wants it to "look good" he may be more suited to the hairdresser option of MK3.

Really want an MR2. COuld sell my Punto and get one but just cant justify it as the Punto is the perfect getting to work car. Would love an MR2 for the weekend though!

Maybe next year I could give the Punto to the missus....

Dont get a MK3 MR2 then, they look fugly without extra body work and rear spoiler which is all pointless for a slow car.  MK2 Turbo is the way to go!!!

hes already planning on the body kit/spoiler and a turbo for it !

looks pretty much like itll be a MK3 MR2
