Im just after some opinions on the inkrite cartridges for Canon Printers. I have a Pixma IP4300, and have always used the offical cartridges.

However, I have now found that inkrite have made a bit of progress, and produce cartridges which include the chip (previously you had to remove the chip from an official one, and this would invalidate the warranty on the printer and disable ink-status reporting).

Considering these cartridges are half the cost of the official ones, (can get all 5 for less than £20, as opposed to ~£45 for the official ones), it warrants further investigation.

I got a set, the big black cartridge installed no problem with the chip attached. The Magenta was the next to be replaced today, and weirdly they supply the chip, but not attached. Twas a little fiddly getting it slotted in, and the cartridge also was fiddly getting it to clip in to the printer, got there in the end with a bit of ink on my fingers.

So far so good, though Ive only printed a few OS maps out and cleaned the nozzles. Not tried a photo on photo paper at high quality.

Im wondering if other people use them, or other brands rather than the official ones. Being so cheap, I presume some corners are being cut. Will they run out 2x as fast, losing any savings, will ink fade in time? Any thoughts appreciated.

I used to sell those, better than most 3rd-party inks to be fair.  The Black was always black rather than a dirty green.

Ive got the same printer and use ink.co.uk not had any problems, and a lot cheaper
