whats happened to the price of puppies lately ? , i lost my dog last month due to cancer . i decided to get another dog to help me cope with the grief , now the dog i just lost would have been 15 years old in december . i had her from when she was 5 weeks old and she only cost me £5 for a collie cross wippet , but this new dog i had on sat cost me £150 for the same breed (collie x wippet)  . my question is where do they get these prices from for a non kc reg dog ?

knighty

ahh... thatll be all the paperwork/injections etc... I guess its had them all ?

vets charge a lot more for inoculations etc.. than they used to....  it used to be normal to buy the puppy and then have them done yourself, but now its the other way around... theyre done before you get the pup...

count yourself lucky... one of my customers sold a puppy for £150k (yep £150,000) just before the credit crunch !

prices have about halved on pedigree dogs right now... tho a lot of breeders have stopped breeding to keep the blood lines pure and keep prices up - to be blunt... they;re trying to stop riff raff buying there pups and breeding on from them... weakening the bloodline and de-valuing there dogs etc. etc..

p.s. wow a collie x whippet must have plenty of energy !

£150k ? , what was it gold plated  :w00t:

ps : sorry for the mis-spelling in the first post of this thread

knighty

mis spelling ?  where ?

I had to run my post through a spell checker 3 times just to make it readable !   - you could have put numbers in the middle of words instead of letters and Id have copied you thinking your way was the right way :o

and I cant post on a public forum what Id want a 150k dog to do to me to get my monies worth..... !

Eggtastico

my brothers dog :-

normally go for £1500, but he had him for £900

Binary Shadow

*shudder* fugly IMO

Id love a lab but it aint gonna happen for a few years, sounds like i might need a mortgage to buy one then!

Mongoose

damn Dogs are expensive, I think the most my family has ever paid for a cat (not counting injections etc) was a £20 donation to the rescue.

Id love a collie, but I refuse to get one until I am in a secure job which would allow me enough time and money to suitably train it. Recent experiences have further reinforced this view ><

^ cute puppy! Folks paid ~£200 for a papered Yorkie 11yrs ago - theyre £4-500 now.

Surely the 150k dog would be paying You, Knighty? Youd be in profit in no time.

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

knighty

^^ lol!

more important than what kind of dog you have, or how much it cost..... what are you going to fee it ?

Knightly, what the hell was the £150k dog?!

Sounds a lot but in some ways I guess we got £150k fun out of our dog when I was a kid - not that wed have ever paid it but anyway!! Cant beat a Springer tbh, only dog I think I could ever have really.
