Sam

Do people still buy those quaint iphones?
Seriously though, are they twice the monthly price of an android phone like they are in the US ?

zpyder

I dont think so. I think I ended up paying about the same for my Sony Ericsson X1 (which I regret) as I could have for the iPhone on the samekind of contract :(

Bacon

Saw this quite a few weeks ago.

The conclusion i came to over my iPhone was that im not going to buy it or any other expensive phone for that matter, i cant justify it, will be happy with a G600.

i think there might be an app to grow money on trees, so you can afford the monthly line rental

not 100% sure on that one tho, so dont quote me

*shudder* You got an X1?!  I love the form factor, but they are a nightmare.

To be honest its nice to see O2 losing their exclusivity.  Though I do hope it doesnt mean that Orange dont do an O2 and start to ignore everyone who isnt using an iPonce.

Can not argue about the cost but where do you live Sam? lol
You do know the iphone is the fastest selling mobile phone just on about all networks around the world it launches on.
It is just about to go on sale in China and expected to sell a sh*t load.

Quote from: SamI dont get your point Nexus.
You asked a question. The market share and rate it sells now answers that.
Fair enough to hate them but your comment alludes to it being nothing of nothing which is not the case.
And the market for iphone apps is 10 times that of the google android.
People are becoming millionaires through the app store. Whole companies have formed through the app store.
Love it or Hate it Any thought that anyone may have that the iphone is a nothing phone in the market would be wrong.

Sam

I know its uncharacteristic of you to wholly exaggerate someones comments, but the market share of a phone includes all previous sales before competition arrived. Since the iPhone (in the US) is twice the monthly cost of an android I dont understand why people would continue to buy one.

zpyder

I get the impression that there are more apps for the iPhone?

And if I get that impression I am guessing many other people do. I guess people will be willing to pay more on the assumption that as the phone has sold x amount of units, and there are so many apps, there will be a lot of choice/accessories. Whereas an android device might be seen as playing catchup.

Sam

It is certainly true that android is playing catchup, and has quite a way to go before it can say its the leader.

However, how many of the three billion iphones apps are any good? The decent ones are available on iphone and android (and sometimes bberry too). The majority of the apps available on either platform are rubbish or copies of each other.

zpyder

Oh yeah, dont get me wrong, just because "theres an app for everything" doesnt mean the app you need is any good. But the same can be said for any OS/platform. I have a windows mobile device and nearly all things I have for that are rubbish, appart from the things from key developers which are also released for other platforms anyway.

neXus

No multitouch yet.
HTCs latest phone that is coming that they are making a song and dance about is the HTC Leo and they are ditching android for windows mobile on it, Same with some other revisions of phones.
Android is nice and some of the phones are nice but It is not how you praise it either Sam.
More apps and focus are put on iphone apps still.
Sam, You are again making lots of assumption, options and thoughts based on just your opinion and not actually what is or what is going on. Are there apps that are any good? Erm, Yes, of course there are.
But in saying that, if you make an app that is not very good sam and Make a million off of it, would you care that it is any good?
