Heres one for you.

At school/college/uni when being taught about CVs etc, its always been drilled in about using high quality paper/envelopes etc, on the basis that if theres a wad of CVs on someones desk and they flick through them, the uber nice paper will stand out from the bog standard stuff.

Fair enough.

BUT.

Given the sector I am in, pretty much conservation and ecology, is it better, the same, or worse to be using recycled materials?

Recycled paper stands out just as much as the posh stuff, and so do the envelopes I have (theyre grey rather than white or brown, and fairly obvious theyre eco-friendly types). Would an HR person maybe think it good that I am using recycled paper, or think I dont care enough about the position to warrant using more expensive posher paper? (ironic considering the recycled envelopes are more expensive than the normal bog standard ones you can get!)

hmm interesting point, being HR bods that look at them i doubt they would care then again i could be wrong.

Iv got a different problem here, all my CVs are emailed so i cant make an impression with paper hehe
