Last night after dropping a friend off home, I attempted to negotiate our Icy road.
Its steep and was covered in snow.  I managed to get around 1/4 of the way up before the car said "Nah, This is your lot mate" so I pulled over to the side of our private road (Flats) with the lights and hazards on so I could get some grit, a shovel and some carpet to at least get it in a parking spot at the bottom.

Suddenly, a Colin Mcrae wannabe came round the icy corner at about 20mph and was on a collision course for our Accord.  BANG.

No brake lights and she swerved at the last minute.  Knocked our car down the road and into the main road.
Wife and new puppy inside.

She was abusive, telling me I should learn to drive (when I wasnt even in the car) and then drove off with her handbrake and foglights on, scuffing a parked car in the process.

She was being unco-operative until I asked her if shed been drinking and should I call the police.  She gave me her details, so I gave them to the police when I got back in the house.  Phoned the insurance company today and they said that she will have to admit full liability seeing as the car was stationary, and I wasnt even in the passenger seat.

About 10 minutes later, the Police phoned back saying that she had phoned them and admitted to crashing into a car and that she had been drinking.

Privelidge have so far said that Gilders will come and collect our car in the new year and drop off a courtesy car.
I left her details on the other car she hit.

Pics to come.

Our car looked like it needed a new headlight, wing re-shaping and bumper.
Still not got the damage on the other side sorted from a Hit and Run in Febuary, so we might see about getting that done at the same time.

So, Drive safely!

Im glad to hear you got a resolution; that could so easily have been a worse outcome.

Indeed, its good that she actually owned up to the police about it! I think whilst conditions are like they are at the moment I will be keeping a camera handy in my car at all times. Just in case.

Its the benefit of camera phones, but I think for ease Ill be sticking a disposable in the glovebox.

Definitely, very glad to hear that missus and mongrel are okay too! Worst time of year for these things, I hope she gets the book thrown at her. :disappointed:

Itd be interesting to know whether she does get any form of punishment, if you ever find out.

I mean, will the police have sent someone round to breathe test her? AFAIK you need to get breathe-tested at the station for any kind of proper charge regarding that? Also she may have been drinking but was she over the limit (im guessing so)...and it wasnt a hit and run, she contacted the police...will she still get points if she was found to be under the limit as under the driving conditions it might not class as dangerous driving?

Certainly interesting to see how it pans out for her :D

I dont know whether she phoned it in last night or this morning, so shell probably get away with that but it will go in our favour with the Insurance.

When she was being unco-operative, I asked her who she was visiting in our flats and she said she wasnt visiting anyone but that she had made a wrong turn, to which I called her bluff.  Ive seen her car in our visitors carpark many many times this year.

she probably wont get done for drink driving as im pretty sure the test needs to be at the incident. she could have gone home and downed a bottle of vodka for all anyone knows

I know a girl who bumped her neighbours car, very small bump, no problem at all.. knocked on the door to tell them about it.... neighbour was a total dick shouting and swearing at her etc.. (hes at least twice her size)

she hadnt had a drop to drink.... but was shaken up and had a few drinks when she finally got into her house.... 4 hours later the police turned up... the neighbour had phoned them saying she was drunk and hit his car....

she ended up getting done for drink driving.... even tho she was only just over the limit... and had a glass of wine in her hand when she opened the door to the police(thinking it was her b/f at the door)

doesnt really have anything to do with the woman who hit Nathan if she didnt phone the police till the next day tho...

at least the car isnt too bad.

but that other dint you mentioned, are you sure that didnt happen at the same time ? ;) ;)

Other side of the car Im afraid, that and it has VACTAN on the bare metal to stop the rust.

You mean shes having an affair with some one there eh? :heehaw:

Glad everything is panning out ok with this though

She must have taken another wrong turn, and parked in one of the residents spots at the top.

Wasnt visiting the person whos space she came out of as thats in my block.

Gave her a little wave though whilst playing on the grass with the new puppy and said "Thats a funny wrong turn, to end up inside someones flat as well as up the wrong road"

She scuttled off and drove off in a similar fashion to before, i.e  too fast for our road.

I might let her tires down next time, that should slow her down.

When I read about the wife and puppy and main road - Eeek. That could have gone wrong with another idiot on the road etc. Glad all are ok.
Good how you handled that though, I would have done similar and filmed her looking drunk too on my phone. Least she admitted it to the police after etc. Nothing will happen bar a warning though, as Edd says, with not the proper procedures like a test etc done they can not really do anything.
