Are Pirelli tyres worth the money?  Its baldy time on the motor.  Ok it was baldy time a few months ago but hey-ho...

I want (need) to repace all four tyres (for alloys) and have always had Pirellis - what brand/deal would you recommend for a saloon?  No cheap / lame chavvy sh*t.

you can get good tyres a lot cheaper from the fringe premium companies rather than the proper premium companies.

What size?

Michelin, Pirelli and BF-Goodrich are good across the range IME. Eagle F1s and Toyo Proxes are often recommended but really are kind of overkill on saloon cars I think. Continental SportContact come out top in reviews and recommendations but are pricey.

Falken FK-452 are widely regarded amongst the BMW community as a great value tyre (on M3/M5s no less!), premium performance in mid-premium range.

bridgestone s-01 or s-02.

I have s-01 expedias on the back of the MR2 in 245/45x16 and they give surprising traction. I run Toyo R888 on the back in the summer, and Nitto 555R tyres for drag in 265 wide.

I have goodyear eagles on the front, but they are getting changed to hankook RS2 asap.

Agreed getting a full set of them stuck on my car next month 165/50 R15 :)

Ive no love of Pirelli because when I did used to have them on a car they were far too soft.  Really grippy, but they wore out in under 6 months on an MK2 GTE 16v!

These days I tend to run Fuldas, they arent the best, but they arent bad either.  At the moment the Veccy has Carat Progressos on each corner.  As much as I like real performance tyres they are wasted on a normal car.
