The missus has been using her 350D fine until now, but all of a sudden it has started taking photos continuously as soon as it is turned on. Because its taking them continuously of its own accord, she also cant get into any menus. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Set to continuous shooting mode and the trigger release button being stuck down?

I thought it could be in continuous shooting mode, Im not sure how the trigger would have gotten stuck though. Ill have to get my hands on it I suppose.

Might not even be the button itself but something else that is related. When I first got my 400d the PC wouldnt recognise the camera when connected after a few months. Sent it off under warranty and they replaced the PCB. Youd have thought it would have been a firmware or computer issue but instead it was something hardware related that had gone wrong :|

i take it you have removed the batteries, both of them the main and the button cell backup for a few hours to make sure its reset

my 350D got confused once, i had been using it in continuous mode and was hammering it with tons of shots, then it just stopped, would auto focus but that was it, had to reset it like that to get it back.

No I havnt tried that, as I say Ive not got my hands on it yet, but Ill try that out, cheers BS :)

sooo?

Im on tenterhooks did it bloody work or not? ;)

I took it to one of my photography teachers, because he said hed have a look at it for me, but when he turned the camera on, it was working normally. Because Id been out in the snow using it he thinks it might have been some dirt or water locking it up or something which was making it take the photos.
As always, you try to get someone to fix it and behaves itself (:

Thanks everyone for your help though (:

glad its working again, oh queen of the left handed smiley

my dad had a problem with his first digital camera once where it just froze up completely and wouldnt do anything. Turned out to be condensation, once it dried out it was fine and has been ever since.

Were going to take it to a photographers in Portsmouth for a check over/proper clean just to be sure since some of the pictures come up a tad dirty. Thanks everyone :)
