Why would they rivet in the speakers?

Just changed the stereo in the Avensis and thought Id treat myself to some new speakers too. Only problem is the stock ones are fixed in with rivets :(    Goddamn it!

if youre worried about it..... use a bettery drill and put it on slow (screwdriver) speed...


theyll only be aluminium so should drill out pretty easy ;)

as above, drilling rivets is easier than putting them in

They use rivets because they are cheap and easy to put in, no putting your hand around the back for nuts&bolts or bothering with self tappers or threading the metal. Ive used a small grinder disk before in a dremel and done the same with a file, although that takes longer.
