Yes, theyre probably crap cars and arent particularly sporty (thats why they only sold em in america ;)) they certainly would be an experience. Id like to own one one day

Pete

An SUV is perfect for the states imo, big and comfy. Its pointless getting owt sporty or cornery over there because the roads are so sh*t.

I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Sam

Well depends where you are. The roads in PA and NJ are almost third world. Roads in CA are excellent.

My only problem with getting something sporty is that Id be trapped when it snows.

Edd

get a subaru or something then, theyve got 4WD

Sam

God how boring. An ugly saloon.

Edd

TTs have quattro, so that might work out for you?

knighty

does that kind of 4x4 work in the snow ?

I knew a guy who thought it porsh would be ok in the snow because of the 4x4 bit it was no good at all :(
(too low to the ground, tyres too wide, etc. etc.)

Quixoticish

Please do correct me if Im wrong, but I was always under the impression that a simple 4x4 (i.e with all four wheels receiving torque from the engine) doesnt necessarily make a difference, to really be set for properly hazardous conditions youd need all of the Land Rover-esque goodies like a low range gearbox?

If you can lock the differetial so one wheel doesnt start spinning with the remaining three standing still, even a two wheel drive with lockable differential makes a big difference.

Binary Shadow

youll need at least braked TC where the car brakes a spinning wheel or LSDs or lockable diffs

Most have limited slip differentials so you dont need to do anything, it works itself.

Isnt that the problem?  An LSD transfers all the power to the wheel not slipping?  Thus the need to be able to lock the diff.

Serious

When one begins to rotate rapidly compared to the other its locked down automatically so the power goes to the wheel with good contact.

Only real issue seems to be its more complex and therefore costs more.

bear

Many just brakes the spinnig wheel (ABS like on just one tyre) also it is good to be able to look the diff betwix front and rear, with four wheels driving you have more power than just braking the spinning ones.

Sam

What I really want is an Equinox.
