MF2 was brilliant. Any other games that have just come out like it ?

Single player wise..

F.E.A.R 2, Bioshock 1/2, The new medal of honour game now all modern era as well is on the way, Bad Company 2 as mentioned by skidzilla.
I think you would like mass effect 2 though as an odd choice for a new game, but the combat in that is engaging

ME2 and Bioshock 1 is better than part 2 imo

No Im crap online and dont have the time to really get good at it.

battlefield bad company 2 seems pretty decent, thats like MW2 but with more "open" enviroments. Its designed as a multiplayer shooter i think, but it does have singleplayer. I dont think its particularly long singleplayer, but it seems ok. You might want to give it a go

Im like you in that Im after games like MW2 that are relatively recent, but they seem to be pretty thin on the ground

Buy ME2 its great, and if you have a 360 get Gears 1 and 2, the single player campaigns on those games are great to.

Worth giving it a go, Most new FPS will have a big part of the game being this. Bad Company 2 has a nice single player but it and destruction of the environment only really kicks off in multiplayer.

Multiplayer these days is where it is at so it is time to nuckle down and get decent at it
