We had a little chat in the mods forum about merging some forums together due to the fact that these days the forum is not busy enough to warrant lots (mostly empty forums). Might work better if we have a few busy ones.

Can you actually merge forums with this software?

Sounds like a good idea to me - fewer busier threads might be just what we need.

I was actually going to suggest to Nige to get rid of Trader feedback, now your talking about merging thats a great idea.

You could get rid of Waffle and have an NDA thread stickied in GD for old times sake

Get rid of Humor and Jokes, Cycling, Photography and food, all that can be discussed in GD.

We could get rid of the Support section

technical could be merged into just Hardware forum & Software forum.
Games & Consoles could be merged with entertainment.. TBH I only use the posts since last visit button,
so they can all me merged into 1 forum for what I care.

A lot of the lifestyle forums could be merged - keep SC separate I guess but you might as well merge waffle with GD

Id be tempted to also merge entertainment with GD and maybe designate GD the place for discussing televised sport - world cup etc.. too...

food and drink, photography, cycling, and the hobbies bit of sports and hobbies could all come under a general hobbies and interests forum...

You could basically have:

General Discussion - (old GD + waffle + would have threads about latest films, world cup, some TV prog on last night etc...)

Speakers Corner - as before

Hobbies and interests - (food, photography, cycling (could also be re-merged with cars and bikes), working out/running/sport (as in talking about sport you compete in as a hobby rather than watch on TV) and any other interests...)

Games and consoles (could fall under hobbies and interests but seems popular enough)

Cars and Motorbikes - seems popular enough as it is

Personally, although Im still slightly opposed to the changes, I would merge:

Waffle + GD + Food = General Discussion

Entertainment + Games & Consoles = Entertainment

Phtoography + Cycling + Sports & Hobbies = Sports & Hobbies


Hardware + Software + Networking + Development = General Computing & Programming


Trader Feedback would be ideal as a subforum but could be merged with FS&W
